An Interview with Kay Parker

28 05 2009

Kay Parker

Kay Parker Today

Kay Parker is one of the most well known actresses to ever preform in adult film.  She is a classic beauty who starred in numerous adult titles during the golden age of porn in the late 70’s and early 80’s.  Kay was always known for both her acting ability and sexual prowess.  She is most famous for her role in the classic porn flick Taboo and some of its sequels.

I recently caught up with Kay for a short interview to see what she has been up to for all these years.  I was pleasantly surprised to find that she is living a very interesting life and had a lot to talk about.

You were born in Birmingham, England.  When did you first come to the United States?

I arrived in 1965 after having spent two or more years living in Germany. It had always been a goal to master another language, a goal I fulfilled while I was there.

What was your life like as a child?  Where did you grow up?

I grew up post World War 2 in a very cold and depressed England as the country struggled to rebuild after the war. In my memory there were no colors, just grey. I remember food rationing and extreme scarcity. My Father raised us under the banner of “Children should be seen and not heard,” and “Don’t speak unless spoken to.”

How did you first become involved in the adult entertainment business?

I met John Leslie who introduced me to Robert McCallum and I took a small non-sex role in “V-The Hot One.”

What factors in your life lead to your decision to perform in adult films?

There were many of which I talk about in my book, but for this interview, suffice it to say that number one, there was a fascination with the art of film-making and number two,  a deeply rooted yearning to get free, to peel off my layers and to know myself. I saw this as an opportunity to do that.

What did you like best about performing in front of the camera?

I had spent a year in an intense acting workshop prior to meeting John and this was an opportunity to put my tools to use, as it were. So, there was great satisfaction in performing and portraying characters for me.

Any favorite actors you enjoyed working with more than others?

Several of the men I worked with were real gentlemen, including Eric Edwards and Herschel Savage, John Leslie of course and the incomparable Richard Pacheco.

Sometime in the mid-80’s you gave up performing in adult films.  Can you tell us what the reasons were behind your decision to quit performing?

There were several factors, my age (even though I could have continued, I opted out,) and of course, the AIDS epidemic. Beyond those reasons, the video age had arrived, film budgets had dropped, and videos were being shot in one or two days and were just sex scenarios. The industry I had known, where we shot on film, had lengthy scripts and multiple takes of a scene with room to develop characters disappeared. I couldn’t bring myself to participate any longer. It was time to leave.

I also have read that you directed one title before leaving the adult business for good, Tantric Guide to Sexual Potency, in 1994.  What was it like to be on the other side of the camera and why did you not continue to direct?

Yes, this was a project that I cared for because of the content. I had always been concerned with putting love back into sex – this was in fact my logo during those years. In Tantra – which is the yoga of sex, the emphasis is on breathing and the focus is on divine union through sexual interaction. The focus on the orgasm is diminished opening up the space for a deep spiritual union which can be transcendental and beautiful beyond words.  I didn’t continue to direct because it was time for me to get on with my other work…my counseling and spiritual mentoring work.

Do you have any regrets about your career in adult film?

No regrets  – I see every experience as an opportunity and, within that notion, higher purpose prevails. In life, it’s important to see the bigger picture, as if looking at the tapestry of all the events in our lives and their outcome from a higher vantage point. This is challenging for most people, but through choosing to see the bigger picture, one has the opportunity to move out of any semblance of martyr or victim consciousness.

Do you keep in touch with any people from the adult industry?  Any actors, producers or directors?

I keep in touch with a few, those I had a heart connection with…Seka, Mr. Pacheco, Veronica Hart and Kelly Nichols.

When did you first become involved in new age philosophy?

I began to pursue my belief in an alternative reality and way of life over 30 years ago when I lived in Northern California and during the time of my film career.

Briefly explain in general what you belief system is all about.

It’s simple, take care of yourself, and take care of others and the environment.  Beyond that, know who you are as a divine being, as a soul having a human experience on a path which is eternal and focus on that, as opposed to the status quo.

You believe in re-incarnation of the soul.  Tell us more about that.

That’s way too lengthy to talk about here. Suffice it to say that each of us is on a journey that extends way beyond this lifetime. In order to understand this, one has to move beyond fear, doubt, trepidation and our experiences in our lifetime which have wounded us.

kparker

Kay Parker

I have had roughly 186 lifetimes in this quadrant of time. While I have documented many of them, there are particular lifetimes that are highly significant and relevant to the here and now.  When I work with individuals I am focused on that aspect of their past – what is relevant to a person’s current life experiences and challenges.

For me, the main focus has been on deep forgiveness of “perceived errors of the past” and releasing those memories, in addition to the realization of the fulfillment of commitments made long ago to be here now and to participate in what truly is a monumental time on our planet and humanity’s transition.

I read a little bit about “star beings” on your website.  What is a star being?

There are a certain number of individuals alive today (in the millions) who have experienced life on other planets before incarnating here. To some way of thinking they are the proverbial “old souls” because they have in fact, had a longer journey than newer souls, culminating here, now.  In terms of their soul contract, they are committed to applying themselves in a very significant way to our planet’s evolution. They will, at some point, wake-up to their soul essence and recognize their true identify, instead of just plodding along, submitting to the conditioning of the cultural, societal and familial mores.

What kind of services do you offer via your website, http://www.starsourceonline.com/

I am a spiritual mentor, meaning that I work with an individual to assist them to recognize their mission and to assist in the healing of their emotional scars, to help them to put their life circumstances in perspective and assist them to move out of guilt, shame, fear, hopelessness, indifference and a multitude of other emotional limitations and/or blocks.

What could someone expect that purchases services on your website?  What type of person should be interested in a session with you?

First of all, they may expect to be surprised. I say that because, for me, my work is  ultimately about love – and offers a person the opportunity to open their hearts to a more elevated way of being where love takes precedence, where love is the guiding force and where love opens doors never opened before. If a person wants to experience that, and is willing to grow in terms of loving themselves by taking the first step towards healing and balancing their past, their life may change in ways that may be extraordinary. Key word here is choice, a person must first choose.

Having been an adult actress for several years, sexuality has played a major role in your adult life.  How does sexuality factor in to your belief system and does it continue to play a major role?

Sexuality has played a role for me in terms of opening doors to my true work, here, now. From my career came a wealth of information about sexuality and, more specifically, a deep understanding of the dynamics of sexual shame. Back when I was acting, the Internet didn’t exist and I couldn’t possibly have known that I would have a website and a global doorway to making available my services.  In my personal life it’s a very, minor issue.

Taboo

Taboo

You wrote a book in 2001 titled, Taboo: Sacred, Don’t Touch, please tell the readers what the book is about and where they can purchase the book.

I wrote the book (which I began 10 years before I published it) at the urging of others. In public presentations and lectures, I had used anecdotal stories from my career to illustrate what I had learned, not only about myself, but about the entire area of sexuality. It seemed only natural that a biographical book should follow, but when it came down to it, to be true to myself, I had to tell the whole story – the bigger picture – and that meant including past lives. This is why I subtitled the book “A Biographical Journey spanning Six Thousand years.”  The book is available in audio (read by me) or text form on my website www.starsourceonline.com .  At the moment, I don’t have hard copies available.

Are you currently married or have you ever been married?

No and No.

Do you have any children?

No.

Where do you live?

I live in southern California, outside Los Angeles

Outside of your beliefs and profession what do you like to do for fun?  What are your hobbies or interests?

I am a movie buff and I love good music. I love to walk and enjoy the wonderful Pacific Ocean. All my other activities relate in some way to my work, which is my life.

Is there anything you would like to say to your fans?

I am always in awe of the generosity of my fans. Each time someone connects with me, I am grateful.  I encourage you to not be shy about learning more about who you are, to embrace their higher purpose and to be willing to deeply connect to your soul’s mission. I’m here to help.  If my assistance can make the difference between a life lived with quality and meaning, fulfillment and passion, I encourage you to make the investment.  Blessings.

Houston Battling Cancer

Houston

Ex-Porn Star Houston

Houston is most famous for her adult film appearances including two large gangbang videos produced in the late 90’s.  She left the adult business around 2003 and recently was diagnosed with melanoma.  She is also a born-again Christian and is a member of the XXX Church, a religious organization that helps former adult performers and porn addicts.  Here is Houston’s story in her own words:

My story, upbringing and the problems I experienced are far too common.  A family history of alcoholism and abuse and a personal history of alcoholism and drug abuse rarely lead to good things.  You can walk into any strip club or porn set in the world and will find that 99% of the women have the same back story.  Through hard work, bad luck and a lot of pain I was able to take porn to a whole new level.  I achieved national and international success and experienced people, places and things most people only dream of.

Unfortunately, those incredible highs have also been offset by horrible lows, from medical drama to addiction, divorce, kids teasing my child and now cancer.

The world of porn is one that thrives on numbness typically created by drugs and alcohol.  The more numb you are, the more you are willing to do.  The more drunk and high you are, the crazier things you do and the more you get paid. It’s a vicious cycle.  Case in point, I had sex with 620 guys in a single day.  The event was a successful publicity stunt that won me an award for best selling video of all time.  That, along with the other movies and crazy stuff I did catapulted me to the top of the adult world. I was so deep into porn that I just took the ball and ran with it, doing more and more outrageous things.

Houston early in her career

Houston early in her career

I was a single parent living in LA, supporting my daughter by doing bachelor parties, bikini contests and mud wrestling. At the same time I was also getting into mainstream acting, but not making it big fast enough.  I was introduced to a porn agent and asked if I’d like to be in a porn video, they paid very well and I thought I had nothing to lose.  That week the producer called me and asked me if I would like to be an exclusive contract girl for their company. They would pay me $10,000 a month for several films.  I was so broke and struggling that there was no question in my mind. I didn’t think of anything but the fame and money, not God, disease, my family or anything.

By 2002, I was still living in LA.   I had bought a home in the San Fernando Valley, I was a featured stripper for 32 weeks a year all over the world. I was surviving on methamphetamines to keep going and was a complete mess. I was still doing porn and basically killing myself.  I had a nanny for my daughter who would take care of us both, I don’t know how she did it.  She said she prayed for me all of the time.

By now ten years had gone by and I had become one of the biggest porn stars in the history of the adult industry. I was an empty shell full of hate and sadness and I felt totally alone.  I contemplated suicide often and all the money in the world couldn’t make me feel happy or whole.  By that time in my life I had by then been brought to my knees on several occasions, praying to God to not let me die this time.  My heart would beat so fast that I know a couple times God stepped in and saved me.

I had enough and I knew couldn’t die and leave my daughter.  I decided to sell the house and move as far away as I could afford from my druggie friends and porn.  I retired after 10 years, having been inducted into the porn hall of fame.  I thought “my daughter and I can move to Vegas and start a new life,” and that’s what we did.  I couldn’t handle the fans and the people all over; I knew I would eventually overdose if I stayed in LA.

Later, I got my real estate license and was working for a home builder.  I had been working for them for a couple of years, trying not to wear a lot of makeup, dying my hair brown and even gaining some weight as to not get recognized. In April 2008, I was fired on the spot. Someone in the corporate office recognized me.  I was devastated, I worked so hard and was a great sales person. They said they just couldn’t have me on the front lines, even if that career was in the past.

That same month, I was diagnosed with stage III Melanoma Cancer.  I was in complete shock, I never had a growth removed or any kind of skin issues.  It was in my lymphatic system.  In July, I had extensive surgery to remove several lymph nodes in both my right and left arm.  I recovered for a month and then in August I was put on a drug [a form of chemo] for an entire month, intravenously, everyday.  I now give myself injections at home three times a week for the remaining 11 months.  It’s a year of treatment and the percentages of survival are not good… but my attitude is.     Everyday I put on my armor when I get up.  I will beat this demon, I have beat worse. I know that I am special and God is going to use me to help others. God has something for me that I can’t even imagine.

My story is one of hope, that people can change, that women and men in porn have a choice and they don’t have to be violated or exploit themselves in order to feel accepted and loved.  There are people to help and love them unconditionally, to show them God is love.  I am growing in God everyday and will continue to learn and grow in the church.  I cannot change the past, but the past does not make my future. Everyone needs to know God is a loving God and He will love you.

I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior and vowed to never be a part of the world that I had lived in before.  I have asked for forgiveness and know that I am worthy. My daughter has been attending a new church for 7 months and I started going about 4 months ago.  It’s a wonderful church and we love it.  I found out about XXXChurch there and wanted to get involved from the minute I found out about what they were doing.  I want to help these girls see that they don’t have to go that route…and if I can do it, so can they.

AVN Hall of Fame Performer Missy Reported Dead

30 09 2008
Missy 1967-2008

Missy 1967-2008

PORN VALLEY - Missy, the soft-spoken five-foot-high blonde who took the adult industry by storm shortly after her first appearance in 1994, was reportedly found dead in her apartment in Valencia, Calif. from an accidental overdose of her prescription medication. She was 41 years old.

A funeral service was held approximately a month ago, unpublicized reportedly because Missy’s family wanted no adult industry presence at the ceremony. The death was not considered to be a suicide.

“I adored Missy,” said Joy King, Vice-President of Wicked Pictures, for whom Missy was briefly a contract performer. “I thought she was an angel, and we were deeply saddened by her tragic loss, everyone in the company, and our hearts went out to her family. She was very special.”

Missy made her adult debut in Midnight Pictures’ 1994 production Cuntrol, directed by Jim Enright, where she performed a girl/girl scene with Tiffany Mynx – though neither it nor any of her earlier features garnered good reviews.

Cuntrol, 1994

Cuntrol, 1994

In fact, it wasn’t until Missy’s first movie for Wicked – Anal Maniacs 3, directed by Jonathan Morgan – that the critics took notice, describing her as “enormously appealing,” and her short anal scene as “quality pork.” Indeed, by 1997, Missy and then-husband Mickey G. had been signed to non-exclusive contracts with Wicked, and it was in that year that the couple directed the top-rated Heart & Soul for that company – her sole directorial credit.

Missy appeared in over 350 XXX movies during her five-year career, receiving five AVN awards – including both Best New Starlet and Female Performer of the Year at the 1997 AVN Award show – and three from the X-Rated Critics Organization (XRCO). She was inducted into the AVN Hall of Fame in 2002.

Toward the end of her career, Missy and Mickey were reportedly having escalating marital differences, and by the summer of 1999, she had effectively stopped doing scenes. She appeared in just two more movies, both likely utilizing footage shot months or years earlier.

But Missy’s ties to the adult industry didn’t break that easily. For months, rumors flew that Mickey, whom she had met while both worked at a local hospital – she in the administration department, he as a male nurse – had been a sort of Svengali, coercing her into performing sex on camera.

Desperate Measures, 1998

Desperate Measures, 1998

“I know there was some contention that that’s the way it was,” said King. “I was very close to Missy, and I never got the impression she was doing anything she didn’t want to do. I wouldn’t have hired her if I had. Had she been single, would she have searched out a career in this industry? Probably not. But she certainly didn’t seem like she was waiting until the time she could escape. She was always very, very content with what she was doing, and certainly didn’t seem unhappy in her decisions.”

Still, performer Hank Armstrong, husband of the late Anna Malle, while recalling several swing parties to which he and Anna had taken Missy and Mickey, told of a darker side to the relationship.

“About six months before she quit, we were in New York City and staying at Neville’s [Chesters] with Michael [Mickey] and Missy and we were all going to work together,” Armstrong told AVN in November, 2001. “And she had very strange behavior where she wouldn’t talk to anybody, she wasn’t socializing, and that’s not the Missy we knew, because we were all friends; we hung out. And we asked her what the hell was wrong – Anna asked her – and she goes, ‘I want to get out of the business. I’m scared. I’m afraid that Michael will kill me.’ And we go, ‘What!?’ And she goes, ‘I’m just really afraid for my health, my safety.’ She goes, ‘I want to quit and I don’t know what I’m going to do.’ And she was just very scared, and she says, ‘I’m sorry I even told you that because I know it’ll get back to him. Please don’t tell him that I said it.’ I said, ‘We’re your friends. We’re not going to tell nobody nothing.’”

Mickey G

Mickey G

“In our presence, he wasn’t physically or verbally abusive to her either, so we didn’t really know,” Armstrong continued. “So we shut our mouths. I mean, what could we do? We didn’t know what was going on, but that’s my personal opinion, that it was maybe physical and mental anguish that pushed her to get away.

That same month, AVN received a letter from Missy, “to tell you about my absence.” Several of her industry friends described Missy as “spiritual” when they had known her, but nothing prepared them for what was apparently the next step on his spiritual path.

“Four years ago I had a mental breakdown and went crazy,” Missy wrote. “It took alot of prayer to be normal again. The only thing is now I can’t be around alot of people…”

“Since then I’ve had several doctors and breakdowns and went through some kind of evil terror and pain. Lord God and Jesus never left me and now I will never leave them. I fear for all of you because I met something that was pure evil in that industry. I’m having premonitions of the end of time. I freaked out and had a seizure. God will not leave us. Jesus gave me a message of pure love, it was God. Now I’m a Christian and always have been. I pray for all of you all the time, because I came to your industry to one day change it to a more loving atmosphere with God. Guess what – Jesus came. Please don’t ever forget what Jesus did for us. He died so we may be with our Lord God in Heaven…”

“Michael [Mickey G.] and I aren’t together anymore because I choose to be a Christian and to not have sex any more, and also, he can’t take care of me. I don’t think anyone could have taken care of me. He can’t afford the doctors and medication or my spells. I miss that man, but I did it for his own good. Michael is a Christian as well, that’s what kept us together for so long.”

Missy, Back in the 90's

Missy, Back in the 90's

According to one source who knew Missy well, Mickey “always seemed very, very caring. He cared a lot about her. He didn’t seem overly controlling to me, although after the fact, I’ve heard he was very controlling, but it didn’t appear that way when I worked with them. He seemed to adore her. That doesn’t mean he wasn’t controlling. You don’t know the intimate details of a relationship from looking at it from the outside. I do know that when they had just split up, it wasn’t particularly pleasant, and I do know that the family wasn’t supportive of their relationship.”

Although Missy went to live with her parents after her retirement and the breakup of her marriage to Mickey, she was living alone at the time of her death.

Kay Parker, Metaphysical Author

17 08 2008
Kay Parker

Kay Parker

Kay Taylor Parker (born August 28, 1944, in Birmingham, England, United Kingdom) is a New Age author and former pornographic actress, best known for her depictions of incest scenes in the Taboo series. She is a member of the XRCO and the Adult Video News Halls of Fame.

Adult Film Career
Kay Parker was reportedly introduced to the adult film industry during the late-1970s by actor John Leslie who suggested Parker to take part in one of Leslie’s upcoming films at that time.

Upon hearing that it was a pornographic movie, Parker reportedly declined the offer. But eventually she got eased into the industry by only playing bit parts in non-sexual roles, until porn director Anthony Spinelli talked her into doing her first sex scene in the 1977 film, Sex World.

Sex World

Anthony Spinelli's Sex World Box Cover

Parker’s first onscreen sex partner was porn actor Joey Silvera. And according to various interviews Parker gave during her active years within the industry, she revealed that Joey Silvera and she got a bit carried away during their sex scene, which ultimately got so vigorous and so out of hand that Parker actually got a chipped tooth as a result. Her chipped tooth is clearly visible in subsequent films in which she starred.

Shortly after the release of Spinelli’s Sex World, Parker quickly became a sensation in the adult film industry. Parker became one of the most popular starlets at that time, and one of the most requested to work with by the male porn actors of the day. Her favorites included John Leslie, Paul Thomas, Herschel Savage, Mike Ranger, Joey Silvera, and Randy West.

She appeared in adult films during the late-1970s, and throughout most of the 1980s. Many of her devoted fans also greatly admire her for her acting talent, for being a more mature pornographic actress (she was in her 30s by the time she participated in hardcore sex scenes), as well for having large, natural 38DD breasts with big, pink nipples and a significant amount of dark pubic hair.

Her work basically consisted of vaginal and oral sex, dress up, lesbian encounters, and use of vibrators.

Taboo III Box Cover

Taboo fame

Her most famous role was that of the incestuous mother Barbara Scott in the 1980 porn film Taboo and the first two of its sequels. (Her “appearance” in the Fourth consists entirely of stock footage; in the ninth, hers is a “non-sex” role.) In the original Taboo, Parker has sex with porn actor Mike Ranger, who plays the role of her son Paul Scott. In Taboo 2, Parker has sex with Kevin James, a young actor who portrays Gregory “Junior” McBride Jr., Paul’s best friend. In Taboo 3, Parker has sex with her younger son James Scott (Jerry Butler), whom she has mistaken for Paul, her older son. Also in these videos there are other examples of sex between characters portraying brothers and sisters, fathers and daughters, and mothers and sons.

She said during her commentary for the DVD Taboo: Special Edition that there was definitely a mutual attraction between herself and Ranger despite a 10–12 year age gap between them.  She has stated in interviews that she generally prefers younger men.

Parker obtained a small part in the Burt Reynolds film, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (1982) where she can be seen during a quick scene at the beginning of the movie.

After leaving the adult industry

Sacred, Don't Touch

Parker played herself in the 2005 independent film Dick Ho: Asian Male Porn Star – a mockumentary about a fictional legendary Asian porn actor which included some interviews with known adult film actresses from the 70s in which they talk about their “memories” of the star.

Wrestler Mick Foley says she is his all time favorite pornstar, as mentioned in his book, Foley is Good where he has even mentioned her name during wrestling events held in England.

Parker now works as a New Age metaphysical counselor and lecturer. In 2001, she wrote a book titled Taboo: Sacred, Don’t Touch , in which she wrote about her early childhood, her career in the adult industry, and her experiences with the metaphysical.

An Interview With Celeste

1 03 2008

Celeste - Suze Randall
I was able to make contact with Celeste through messages that she left on a post I did about her back in October of 2007. She sent me her email address and we quickly corresponded. I was surprised to learn that Celeste is now the proud mother of four and is living a quiet lifestyle with her husband and children in Nevada. Celeste is so sweet and I really appreciate her taking the time to answer my questions.

Celeste also sent me pictures of her most recent wedding to prove her identity and I can say that there is no question that the pictures are authentic and were taken after she left the adult business. I have not posted the pictures only because she did not explicitly say it was OK to do so. I have sent a follow up message asking her if she minds if I post one of the pictures.

Let me just say that Celeste is still just as gorgeous 10 years later. She has not aged at all, although she appears more wholesome than the sex vixen we all fell in love with back in the 90’s.

With that said, here is the interview:

NW: Where and when were you born?
Celeste: I was born in Stillwater, MN. May 3, 1972

NW: Where did you grow up?
Celeste: I grew up in beautiful Stillwater, MN.

NW: Describe your early childhood. What was your family like? Did you have any siblings? Would you consider your childhood normal? What were your interests, activities or hobbies?
Celeste: I was pretty shy and quiet as a child. I loved playing with my Barbies and pretending to be a schoolteacher. In the summer, you would find me swimming every day. In the winter, I liked ice-skating, sledding, and ice fishing with my dad. When asked what my favorite color was, I would pick some obscure one that no one else liked because I felt bad for it (the color). When I was in elementary school, I would walk to the local Lutheran church to take communion classes completely on my own. I was always trying to connect with God and understand him. I have two older brothers (my parents each had a son before they got married and had me). I was always begging my brother to play games and trying to hang out with him and his friends, a typical pest of a little sister. My parents did the best that they could when I was growing up.

NW: Was your family religious? If so what religion … what denomination?
Celeste: My family was Lutheran and when I was in about fifth grade, I started going to a Baptist church, joining the youth group. I share this because the combination of being violated and religion caused a great deal of shame and guilt for me. I have always been a seeker and searched to feed my soul .

Vivid Girl CelesteNW: What was your first sexual encounter? Who was it with? How did you feel about your first sexual encounter?
Celeste: Like some of the other girls in the business, there was an adult who violated my innocence at a pretty young age. I think when that happens, you either go frigid or experimental. We all know which way I choose, but I’m thankful that I didn’t allow that person to cause me to become uncomfortable with further sexual encounters.

NW: How old were you when you lost your virginity? Who was it with? Where did it happen?
Celeste: I lost my virginity in junior high to a guy who sang “Stairway to Heaven” for the talent show. It was in a tent and lasted for about two minutes… not very exciting, to say the least. Afterward, we were shown a ”Why Wait” video in school. The visual aid they showed explained that each time you are with a person, you give a piece of your heart away. If a person did this enough, by the time they got married, they’d have nothing left to give. This stuck in my mind and haunted me. Probably because I was young, I rebelled against all of these rules, which I felt I could never live up to (I tend to be a perfectionist)

NW: Where did you go to high school and did you graduate? Did you go to college? Where? Did you graduate? You don’t have to be specific if you don’t want to.
Celeste: My mom started attending a non-denominational church at which point I was put into a private hell – I mean high school – with a “huge” graduating class of three. I went to UMD to study nursing and minored in dance. I wanted to teach dance therapy to challenged children.

NW: What were some of the jobs you held during or after high school or early adulthood? Before entering the adult business.
Celeste: I started babysitting mentally and physically challenged children when I was in fifth grade. By the time I was fourteen, I was working for the state with families who kept their children in the home instead of assisted care facilities. The children I took care of were the highlight of my own childhood. There is nothing better then watching a child achieve a new skill they worked so hard toward. I also had a close bond with some of the families, which was very healing for me.

NW: Were you ever a dancer? If so, Where?
Celeste: Around my second year of college, a friend dared me to enter a strip contest at Déjà Vu. When I experienced how much money I could earn from dancing (which I love to do anyway), I thought I’d be a fool not to do it. When my parents found out, they were not pleased with my choice of profession and I subsequently moved into my own apartment.

NW: How did you first become involved in the adult film business?
Celeste: I think that it was just a couple of months of working at the club when the owners asked a couple of other girls and I to go to Vegas to sign magazines at a booth (which was weird because I wasn’t even in the magazine!)

NW: Early in your career you performed mostly with Woody Long. How did you meet Woody?
Celeste: That’s when I met Woody. We hung out, exchanged contact info, and shortly after that, I packed up and flew to California where Woody picked me up at the airport.

Celeste - Suze Randall ShootNW: Describe the experience of your first porn scene.
Celeste: My first porn experience was really strange. I had only seen a couple of movies before and really didn’t know what to expect. I remember that they wanted me to say the word “pussy” and I about died! I wasn’t used to speaking like that (“Tabasco on the tongue language” at our house!). The scene was with Woody and that’s about all I can recall. I do know that when Woody and I went home, I told him that I needed to see who performed the most rocking scenes and wanted to learn by watching some of them. It took me a while to really become comfortable in front of the camera, but I had fun learning.

NW: Describe your relationship with Woody. When did you split with him? I guess you know that Woody died in 2002 after having a stroke. How did that make you feel? Were you still in contact with Woody at all during that time?
Celeste: I was with Woody for a year before we married and we were only married up until I did “Borderline.” We were not in touch when he died. I found out after the fact from Dyanna. I cried when I found out because, in my opinion, he truly felt alone in the world and was very self-destructive.

NW: After Woody Long your next serious relationship was with Paul Norman. Did you ever marry Paul? Describe your relationship with him.
Celeste: I never married Paul Norman and we didn’t have a long relationship. We tried to work at being friends because I was pregnant. He doesn’t see the child and we went through a horrific nightmare of a mud-slinging court case for a year or so, which resulted in his parental rights being terminated. I married an E.R. doctor when my son was about one and we had two more children (I love having children). We filed for divorce in 2004.

I can sum up all three relationships like this:

They were unhealthy, dysfunctional, and at times cruel. I also want to take 100% responsibility for the good and the bad in all those relationships. I had to work through my own personal issues and unfortunately, when the people you are with need to do the same thing, everyone’s issues sort of explode at the same time. You can’t figure out where the problems begin and end. I also know that I tried really hard to make things work in my last marriage, which was a catalyst to really awesome but difficult period of self -discovery. I am aware that when you play the role of a victim in life or relationships, you lose all of the power to truly create something wonderful for yourself.

NW: Besides Long and Norman, did you date or have any sexual encounters or relationships with any other adult industry insiders off camera?
Celeste: I did have a brief relationship with someone else in the business; however, without their permission I do not want to kiss and tell

Celeste - BedlamNW: Your appearance changed dramatically midway through your career. You went from a very pretty girl to smokin’ hot. Did you have any work done?
Celeste: Yes I had a nose and a boob job.

NW: You also lost a lot of weight from your earlier days in the business, not that you were heavy early in your career. Were you pressured to slim down? How did you loose the weight?
Celeste: I was asked how I changed my body. I learned my way around the gym and worked out for a couple hours a day. I also started dancing more and riding my bike. I was living across the street from the ocean and loved riding on the path, which is something I miss about Southern California). I don’t regret the surgery at all (I love big boobs) and didn’t feel any pressure (other than that I wouldn’t have been on a box cover had I not gotten the surgery!)

NW: You were one of the biggest stars of the 90’s. I’m going to throw out some names of actors and actresses you performed with and I want you to give me your impression of them. Asia Carrera, Dyanna Lauren, Felecia, Jenna Jameson, Peter North, Rocco Siffredi, Steven St. Croix.
Celeste and Rocco Celeste: My impressions of some of the other actors are as follows:

Asia: Smart.

Dyanna Lauren: My best friend and soul mate; beautiful inside and out!

Felecia: Sweet (we met dancing in the Star Strip in LA.).

Jenna: Good for her! I love success stories.

Peter North: hair and cum.

Rocco: hot, sexy, passionate.

Steven St Croix: great to be around and funny.

NW: You performed some anal sex scenes earlier in your career mostly with Woody. Did you ever perform double penetration?
Celeste: I have never done a DP and anals made me nervous on screen just because all horror stories of the nasty things happening when filming them.

NW: One thing I notice about your sexual performances is that you never had a problem taking a huge facial and just sucking and licking up the mess. With a face as beautiful as yours you gave us some of the most memorable facials ever. Where did you learn to do that? Do you have a cum fetish or were you just playing to the camera.
Celeste:Yes!! Busted! I do have a cum fetish and most of my fantasies have to do with lots of it!

NW: What is the most men you have ever been with at one time? Was it on or off camera? What was the experience like?
Celeste: The most men I have been with at a time was two and it was on camera. I loved it! I had a great time in the scene and it was with Rocco and Mark Davis. I think it’s a hot scene.

Celeste VividNW: You have performed with several women on camera. Do you consider yourself to be truly bi-sexual or was it something you just did for the camera? Have you had many lesbian experiences in your personal life?
Celeste: I don’t consider myself bi or gay or straight, I consider myself “sexual” and when a sexy soul comes along, I don’t care as long as there is a connection!

NW: Were you a Vivid contract girl? If so how much was your contract with Vivid worth on a yearly basis? How many years were you with Vivid? What did the contract require? Did you make more money performing free-lance or being a contract girl? Which did you prefer? Were you ever signed with any other companies?
Celeste: Yes, I was a Vivid girl. I don’t recall how much my contract was worth. I was only with Vivid for a year or so and I loved working for them. It is a great company and they treat you awesome. I never had a contract with another company. I enjoyed working for Vivid and Wicked the most. I made the majority of my money feature dancing. Dancing was like a reward for being in all the movies and magazines and it was great to travel and interact with my fans.

Celeste - BorderlineNW: In 1996, you appeared in Borderline which at the time was the most expensive adult film ever made. Was the budget something that ballooned unexpectedly or did Vivid plan on making the movie that expensive? What was the experience like during filming.
Celeste: “Borderline” was expensive, but I don’t know how much the budget was; however, it was partly because there was so much talent hired for the scenes. Personally, I was not in a great place at the time with Woody and I splitting up. He took off with over a $100,000 worth of equipment that I’d bought for my dance show and used it for another feature dancer. I also surrounded myself with people who didn’t bring out the best in me and I made a lot of really self-destructive choices. I still enjoyed filming the movie. It was a great story and I still like watching it!

NW: After Borderline you walked away from the adult business. During that time you were with Paul Norman and got pregnant. Was your pregnancy the only reason you left the adult business? Were there any other factors? How long did you stay with Paul Norman after leaving the adult business?
Celeste: I got pregnant very soon after filming “Borderline” and had always planned to go back to work for Vivid. I changed my mind when I was getting ready to make another movie when I realized that there was more to consider than myself. I started really thinking, “What if I got AIDS and died?” There would be no one to care for my son.

NW: Did you immediately move away from California after you retired or did you stay there for a while? Where did you move to?
Celeste: After I decided to not be in the business, I did go back and live with my parents in Minnesota.

NW: Did you work at all after retiring? Did you feature dance any? Hold any other jobs? Do you work now?
Celeste: I worked again with challenged children and adults providing home health care and I also taught pre-school.

NW: Celeste: Are you currently married or seeing anyone? If so when did you get married?
Celeste: I met my current husband through my ex-husband. We have known each other as friends for eight years and have been together for four. We have one child together. I am so grateful for him and we are perfect for one another. I finally found my own personal Rocco. He is very supportive of me and a brilliant man. We are on this journey together!

Celeste 3NW: Do you ever regret that you left the adult industry when you did? I mean you were at the top when you left. Or do you regret that you ever did porn?
Celeste: I don’t regret leaving the industry when I did. I have regretted being in the industry at times, partly from the guilt I felt from religion and also because of people who have come along and tried to hurt my family (particularly my children) by using my past against me. I am now very proud of what I did and have had a lot of positive feedback from all my wonderful fans.

NW: You posted on IMDb that you are still a very sexual person. Describe your views on sexuality.
Celeste: I have been out of the business for twelve years and I know that some people would like to place the scarlet letters “P.S”. for “PORN STAR” on my head. If that makes them feel better, then that’s their choice. I have chosen a controversial business to be a part of and there are consequences for that. I do believe in the power of sexual energy and the good and spiritual life force that surrounds it. It is a gift to us as humans. We should try to lose all the rights and wrongs, the guilt and the shame, anger, and insecurities that we have attached to our ideas about sex and just take a minute to stop and breathe in what a magical experience it is to connect with ourselves and with others in such a beautiful way.

NW: Feel free to discuss anything that I forgot to ask or left out. Anything that you would like to add?
Celeste: I would like to share something from a book I just read. It describes so perfectly how I feel about my past now that my present is so rich and I am at peace with myself:

There were two Zen monks, Tanzan and Ekido, who were walking along a country road which had become extremely muddy after heavy rains. Near a village, they came upon a young woman who was trying to cross the road, but the mud was so deep it would have ruined the silk komono she was wearing. Tanzan at once picked her up and carried her to the other side. The monks walked in silence. Five hours later, as they were approaching the lodging temple, Ekido couldn’t restrain himself any longer. ”Why did you carry that girl across the road?” he asked. “We monks are not supposed to do things like that.” ”I put the girl down hours ago,” said Tanzan. “Are you still carrying her?”
